Introducing Mutual Minds, our new peer support service …
Darlington Mind is proud to partner with Teesside Mind and TEWV NHS Foundation Trust to deliver the Mutual Minds peer support service across the Tees Valley. Our peer support worker Jodie Mitchell underwent a rigorous five-week training program and will take referrals for anyone already registered in our recovery-focused activities or is a resident in our supported living service.
At Darlington Mind, we believe that recovery is most powerful when it’s shared. That’s why peer support workers - who bring their own lived experience of mental health challenges - are at the heart of our Mutual Minds service.
Not just trained professionals; peer support workers are compassionate companions who walk alongside individuals on their recovery journey, helping them find hope, purpose, and understanding. Whether it’s through one-to-one tailored support, connecting people to local resources, or simply being a listening ear, our peer workers are here to improve the experience of recovery and a better quality of life.
Jodie said “It’s a very exciting time as we form the team across the Tees Valley and start working with our first clients we believe peer support will be a growing influence in better mental health support in our communities and it’s a privilege to be part of it.”
What makes this service special?
• Inclusive for all - no one is turned away based on diagnosis or complexity.
• Flexible and responsive - support is adapted to each person’s place in the care system and their stage in their recovery.
• Community-focused - we help people build meaningful social connections and engage fully in community life.
• Goal-oriented - we support individuals in pursuing personal aspirations, wherever they are on their journey.
Peer support helps to make sure no one feels alone in their recovery and makes a real difference to people’s lives. We are very proud to be bringing this service to Darlington.
