The Lyke Wake Walk was created by Bill Cowley in 1955. It was designed to cross the North York Moors at their widest and highest points, inspired by the old coffin routes over the moors and the ancient burial mounds encountered along the way.
The route runs between Scarth Wood Moor, Osmotherley and Ravenscar on the North Sea Coast. The 40 miles of beautiful moorland in the North York Moors National Park is one of the countries original ‘challenge’ walks.
