Darlington Mind is delighted to announce the return of Mental Elf Festive 5k on 30th November 2025, inviting people of all ages and abilities to walk, jog, or run a scenic 5km route around South Park in Darlington. Participants can soak up the festive atmosphere, enjoy fancy dress, and be serenaded by Cockerton Prize Silver Band as they make their way around the course.
Adding to the fun, Physique Health Club will lead a pre-event warm-up, while Yorkshire Rose Events will host a festive selfie booth for participants to capture memories of the day. Darlington Mind will also run a raffle and sell festive merchandise, raising funds for local mental health services.
This year introduces an exciting new support system: participants who feel nervous or would like company can join a small group accompanied by a Darlington Mind staff member, providing encouragement and friendly support along the route.
“Last year was our very first Mental Elf and it was incredible to see the community turn out in their fancy dress for such a great cause,” says Jemma Gregory, Marketing and Development Officer for Darlington Mind. “As a local Mind, we rely on our own fundraising, so events like Mental Elf make a huge impact and help us continue supporting people in our community.”
The event is kindly sponsored by Aldi and EE, who will also help marshal the course. Other local businesses taking marshalling points include Babul’s, Darlington College, and Darlington Football Club -thanks to all for supporting the event and keeping participants safe.
Darlington Mind is a local charity dedicated to improving mental health and wellbeing, offering counselling, peer support, and community programmes for adults and young people across Darlington, Hambleton, Richmondshire, and South Durham. Every entry and donation goes directly toward keeping these essential services running.
